Players from the league travelled to Puerto Plata in February 2026 to play two local 45+ teams, newly assembled as the Baseball Masters del Atlantico. The teams played three games at three parks: Maimon, Altamira, and the main stadium in Puerto Plata. The trip came together through enormous efforts by the organizers from all of the teams involved, with special thanks to team skip Henry Bonilla who welcomed us to his home and provided the opportunity. Work is in progress for a return trip in 2027.
Thank you to all of the league members who made generous donations. We were able to provide a full gear bag to Robbie, who runs a baseball academy in the DR (pictured below), including many bats, gloves, jerseys, catcher’s gear, and three boxes of new baseballs.
Highlights of the trip included two games with Bartolo Colon, who arranged specially for us to play on the diamond in Altamira where he grew up. Our final game in the stadium was played before an audience of 100+, where we learned the sound of a major league two-seamer fizzing in over the outside corner of the plate.
